GALLERY UNDER CONSTRUCTION:The Milhous brothers made their fortune in publishing. Together they collected antique automated musical instruments in addition to fine art and high end antique automobiles. The collection was liquidated at Sotheby's Auction and is now widely dispersed. I was fortunate to obtain a tour while the collection was still together. These beautiful sometimes gilded instruments, called orchestrions, and fairground organs could be as large as 75' long and 50' high. They were common in the late 1800's but gradually lost favor when music became electrified. Prints and digital downloads available.
